If you’re on my page that means you’re interested in hearing about me and my travels! So, thank you and I promise not to disappoint!
The reason I started this blog is because I don’t believe in being bound to one place. There is a societal expectation for individuals to “check off certain boxes” and follow a path of predetermined achievements such as graduating from college, getting a job, buying a house, and starting a family. But I don’t dream of a big house in the suburbs, or a fast track to my career. I dream of living in the “right now.” And to me living means being unpredictable, being scared out of your mind, and chasing the unknown. I don’t want to be just one thing, and I certainly don’t want to live my life checking boxes. I want to be ALL of the things: I want to be free, happy, silly, spontaneous, and most importantly myself. And I am the most myself when I travel.
So, now a little bit about myself: my name is Janet, and I am a 25-year-old adventurer. When I’m not exploring the globe, I call Chicago my home. My journey into the world of travel began at the ripe age of 2, when my parents re-introduced me to my home country: Poland. Being immersed in Polish culture at a young age and experiencing the warmth of my heritage made me curious to learn more.
Growing up experiencing both Polish and American customs, I quickly developed a profound appreciation for the power of language and the beautiful connections it fosters. It was this early exposure to multiple languages that ignited my lifelong passion for exploring new cultures, their traditions, and the stories they have to tell.
As a 25-year-old with a case of wanderlust, I’ve come to realize that life’s greatest treasures aren’t found within the boundaries of one’s comfort zone. It’s out there, in the unknown, where we discover the most extraordinary aspects of ourselves and the world we inhabit. So, join me as I share the highs and lows of my journeys, the cultural wonders I’ve encountered, and the invaluable life lessons that travel has enriched me with. Together, we’ll uncover the magic of this world and find inspiration in the shared human experience.
One last thing about me is that my big motto is, ‘I’ll try anything once’ because that’s how you truly understand and appreciate the world’s diversity. And who knows, maybe you’ll love something you thought you’d hate, or better yet, you’ll uncover a new passion that sets your heart on fire.
I hope reading this helps you find your own purpose in life.
For now, I gotta jet!
