Denver, Colorado is a city that’s rich in history, culture, and outdoor activities. From hiking in the mountains to exploring the city’s vibrant food and drink scene, there’s something for everyone in Denver.

In this post, I’ll highlight some of the top things to do in and around Denver, including tubing in Clear Creek, dining at Lazo Empanadas, visiting the Denver Botanic Gardens, and more.

Outdoor Adventures

Denver is a city that’s surrounded by natural beauty, so if you’re an a tree hugger or extreme adventurer you’ve come to the right place!

Tubing in Clear Creek

Get ready to cool off in the refreshing waters of Clear Creek while enjoying the breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. This is a CAN’T MISS activity when in Denver.

Tubing in Clear Creek is a popular summertime activity in the Denver area. Clear Creek is a beautiful mountain stream that flows through the charming town of Golden, Colorado, just a short drive west of downtown Denver.

Didn’t have space to pack your own tube? Not to worry, there’s tons of sports shops that you can rent one from! Golden River Sports offers tube rentals for $20 per day. Golden Backdoor is another option for tube rentals, however, their price is a little higher at $25. Tubes tend to go fast, especially if the weather is nice, so I do recommend getting there right when it opens!

It’s important to note that tubing in Clear Creek is weather-dependent, and water levels can fluctuate so be sure to check current conditions before heading out.

Hiking the Flat Irons in Boulder

Experience the stunning natural beauty of Boulder by embarking on a hike through the Flat Irons.

This hike is a 2.7 mile loop, and is considered a moderately challenging route.

P.S. There is no shortage of mountains to climb in Colorado, this is just the one we happened to choose!

Food and Drinks

Denver’s food scene is laid back yet innovative, so be sure to come hungry! And with dozens of local breweries there’s no shortage of beers!

Lazo Empanadas

Indulge in the savory flavors of traditional Argentine empanadas at Lazo Empanadas. Each bite is like a mini-vacation to South America!

Dont skip the dessert empanadas either!! We ordered 1 dessert empanada each, and ended up getting seconds!

Tributary Food Hall

Start your day off right with a healthy brunch at Kona Bowls, located in the Tributary Food Hall.

If you’re not craving an acai bowl, don’t worry its a food hall so there’s plenty of other options!

And don’t forget to crab a coffee from Bean Fosters either!

Gold Mine Cupcakes

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a visit to Gold Mine Cupcakes. Their delicious, homemade cupcakes are a treat for the taste buds!

Some of the most popular flavors at Gold Mine Cupcakes include Salted Caramel, Lemon Lavender, and Black Forest but you cant go wrong…I mean its a cupcake!

Bao Brewhouse

Take your taste buds on a journey to Asia with a meal at Bao Brewhouse.

Their unique fusion of Asian cuisine and craft beer is a match made in foodie heaven!

There are two dining options: the tea room and the tap room. We opted for the Tea room! Some dishes we tried that I recommend are: Korean-style fried chicken wings, steamed dumplings, and the everything crab rangoon.

The Golden Mill

The Golden Mill is Golden’s gathering spot! It has a fantastic patio, tons of food options, and did I mention the self-pour beer wall?!

Fun Fact: The Golden Mill was originally built in the 1860s, and was restored in 2017, retaining much of its unique and historic character.

The Corner Beet

Start your morning off right with a cup of artisanal coffee from The Corner Beet. Their cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee will give you the perfect start to your day!

The Corner Beet is a great spot to enjoy delicious and healthy plant-based food and drinks, in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a health-conscious foodie or just looking for a great cup of coffee, The Corner Beet is definitely worth a visit.

Shopping and Entertainment

Denver is a city that’s bursting with energy and creativity, and its shopping and nightlife scene is no exception!

Garage Sale Vintage

Discover unique treasures and vintage finds at Garage Sale Vintage. And after you’ve found your next outfit, stop by the bar for a drink!

You’re probably wondering how this place is a vintage store and a bar… well the space is divided into two sections, with the front area serving as a vintage clothing and record store, and the back area functioning as a bar and live music venue.

The overall vibe is eclectic and fun, with plenty of vintage charm and character.

Denver Botanic Garden

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a visit to Denver Botanic Gardens. Explore the stunning gardens and enjoy a peaceful moment in nature!

Denver is a city that truly has it all, from stunning natural scenery to a thriving urban scene. Whether you’re a nature lover, a foodie, or just looking for a fun adventure, you’re sure to find something that appeals to you in Denver.
